Founding lawyer, Hasna Syed

Meet Hasna Syed

Hasna Syed is a dedicated lawyer practicing Immigration & Refugee Law. She has appeared at various levels of courts and tribunals, including Federal Court.

Prior to completing her Juris Doctor at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Hasna completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto (U of T) where she spent a semester at Oxford University studying rights and freedoms in criminal law. She later completed a Master’s degree at the London School of Economics (LSE) in International Human Rights. After graduate studies, Hasna pursued her interest in international law and interned with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Before beginning her immigration practice, Hasna worked as a litigator at one of Canada’s largest international law firms.

Outside of her practice, Hasna heads a successful non-profit organization with her siblings – Global Youth Impact – focusing on humanitarian work, environmental advocacy and community capacity-building. She also sings in a band with her siblings who write and perform music on global issues. They have performed at the Pan Am Games and currently have a song featured with the ILO’s Music Against Child Labour Campaign. This work has been featured on the CBC, Global News, and Huffington Post.

Hasna remains dedicated to helping people and businesses navigate their immigration journey by providing a personalized approach and client-centred service.

She is currently a member of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers (CARL) and Refugee Lawyers Association of Ontario (RLA).
